The twenty-ninth edition of Harts Rules was published in May 1930, price two shillings net, by Humphrey Milford in London. It was printed in Oxford by John Johnson, the University Printer who succeeded Frederick Hall. The extent was 139 pages. The volume in the OUP museum contains a printed slip describing the distinction between disc and disk in work for Oxfords examination papers. Such slips were circulated within the printing works to keep compositors and readers up to date with changes or clarifications in house style; others relating specifically to corrections to Harts Rules were sometimes circulated to be pasted in place. A new prefatory paragraph followed on from Hall’s 1925 preface (see below).
Another edition having been called for, opportunity has been taken to include a section on the Spanish language, contributed by Mr. Ulric Gantillon, and to make further corrections and additions which have been received from various correspondents. J.J. May, 1930.
